The village of Oberr?dern, like many others in the region, was marked by the fighting of January 1945 during the Second World War.
To better understand this period of history, immerse yourself in the daily life of a soldier by visiting the Casemate Rieffel, restored in 2008 but still preserving traces of the 1940 confrontations.
This fortification was one of five in the main line of defense between the Sch?nenbourg artillery works and the Hatten shelter. It was entrusted to a crew of 24 men, under the command of Lieutenant Rieffel, in charge of defending the Oberr?dern casemate.
