Before the Revolution, Ban-sur-Meurthe, then Ban-le-Duc, depended on the Duke of Lorraine and Clefcy on the Chapter of Saint-Dié. However, both banns were part of the same parish
In 1671, the Chapter of Saint-Dié erected a parish in Clefcy and placed the church under the vocation of Saint Agathe (the only case in the Vosges). The present building was completed in 1780 but it was not until 1783 that three bells - Agathe, Nicolas, Marie - were placed in the bell tower. Two of them were cast in 1793, the third in 1836. Following damage caused by lightning, the tower underwent a major restoration in 1825. In 1864, a clock was installed, purchased from Ungeree, a clockmaker in Strasbourg. The
the choir and the nave received new stained glass windows in 1898. The building, which did not have to suffer the destruction of 1944, which is quite exceptional in the district of Saint-Dié, was renovated in 1988.
It houses the painting "L'Apothéose de Sainte-Agathe" which is registered in the supplementary inventory of Historic Monuments.
