The abbey church was the main church of the Royal Abbey, founded by Clovis in the 5th century. The church still has some traces of the Carolingian period in the base of the bell tower and the octagonal rotunda of the transept. The nave is covered with a wooden cradle. It was consecrated by Pope Alexander III in 1163. The bell tower and the choir date from the 13th century. The stained glass windows in the apse date from the end of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century, commissioned by Louis de Blanchefort or his successor Pierre de Martigny.
