La Roche des Ducs

Contrary to what one might think, this rock does not take its name from the Dukes of Lorraine but from the Great Horned Owl, a bird of prey, which nested for a long time on this magnificent granite rock overlooking the Bouchot valley from 300 metres. Location: this natural site classified by the Lorraine Regional Department of the Environment is located north-east of Rochesson, about 2 km from the bell tower, on a wooded foothill between the Bouchot and Ménaurupt valleys. It is accessible by a marked trail from the centre of Rochesson. Geological curiosity: a very remarkable 15-metre wide eurite vein rises vertically through the white granite to the top of the rock.
