On the Montalon site, the five 18th-century windmills, now deprived of their wings, are the only reminders of the millers who were long the “lords” of the area. They have the particularity of being located on the highest point of the Cubzaguais region (73 meters). A magnificent panorama stretches from the Fronsac hilltop to the Côtes de Blaye and Bordeaux. At the foot of the Moulin de Montalon, a stele marks the 45th degree North latitude, equidistant between the North Pole and the Equator.
The site has recently been redeveloped, with the addition of a staircase around the mill to admire the magnificent panorama, and locals and visitors alike can now enjoy a wooded park where they can walk, contemplate and relax with picnic tables.
