Château de Losmonerie was built in 1540 by Jean Chantois, elected by the King, in the spirit of a Renaissance country house (tower, staircase, gallery, chapel). In the following century, Jean de Lubersac built the entire courtyard. In the 18th century, the Texandier de Losmonerie family, officers of the Limoges Finance Office, brought 18th-century refinement to the interior (tapestry and furniture listed as Monuments Historiques, pictorial decorations).
Three gardens surround the Château de Losmonerie:
- a formal flower garden surrounding the historic buildings
- a gourmet garden featuring France's largest collection of raspberries, with more than 100 varieties to sample on a stroll
- a wild garden, an exceptional site on the banks of the Vienne, with its wicker hut (designed by Emmanuel Puybonnieux).
