The Library welcomes you in each space: audio-video, documentary, internet, youth, literature, press and heritage collections.
-The audio-video room: feel like action, adventure, love or thrills? Come and fill up on films and series in the audio-video room. The room offers both recent films and cinema classics that you will enjoy (re)discovering.
Feel like French song, rock, jazz or tango? Come and fill up on music in the audio-video room. The room offers you albums by artists who have received media coverage or less to discover without moderation.
Every month the team also offers a thematic selection.
-The Documentary Room: the works in the Documentary Room are divided into 8 major fields: philosophy and psychology, religion, society, language, technical sciences, arts and leisure, history and geography.
-Digital room: The digital room offers free Internet access for all as well as the use of software (word processing, image editing...).
An animator is permanently present to accompany you in your research and your work (making a CV, first use of a computer, printing photos...).
The use of the service's resources is limited to 1 hour per day and per person.
In order to be sure to benefit from a computer, you have the possibility to reserve a time slot by phone (03.23.74.33.10).
-The children's room: it allows the youngest readers (from birth to 14 years old) to discover a whole range of books, films and music. It also welcomes classes and leisure centres by appointment only.
Throughout the year, the life of the library is punctuated by a programme of activities such as exhibitions, storytelling and film screenings.
-The literature room: it offers a choice of more than 25,000 works reflecting literary production (novels, poetry, theatre, comic strips, etc.)
-The press room.
-Heritage collections: the Soissons library built up its first collections at the end of the 18th century, following the revolutionary confiscations. Since then, and despite the ravages of the Great War, it has grown richer through acquisitions, donations, bequests and deposits. Today, the heritage collection includes several thousand documents (manuscripts, incunabula, printed matter, newspapers, maps, photographs, etc.) from the 12th century to the present day.
