Nathalie Mèmeteau is a state-qualified conservator-restorer of sculpted works, authorized to work on public collections. She has been working as a freelance sculptor since 2003, on all types of materials, except metal. She works on all types of materials, except metal, including sculptures in wood, stone, ivory, plaster, terracotta, synthetic materials, and archaeological and ethnographic objects.
Preventive conservation consists first of all in stopping alterations that are harmful to the object. Then come the curative restoration operations: consolidation, cleaning, re-fixing of the pictorial layer, levelling of polychromy, retouching, insecticide and fungicide treatments, filling... The restorer's intervention must be as minimal as possible and never attempt to transform it, falsify it or make it look like a new object.
