Overhung by its water tower, Truchtersheim is geographically at the heart of the Kochersberg, a rich, hilly agricultural region to the west of Strasbourg. Truchtersheim has been linked to Strasbourg by streetcar since 1887, which was an extraordinary development factor for the whole area: freight trains (sugar beet, etc.) and passenger trains, transporting mail, employees, farmers going to the market, high school students, etc. The line was definitively discontinued in 1953 in favor of bus transport, but remained in service until 1956 for the sole purpose of transporting sugar beet.
The Saints Pierre et Paul church was built in 1964. You can admire the work of Thierry RUHLMANN, master stained glass artist, who created the colored stained glass windows.
Since March 2017, the village center has been home to a cultural hub: l'esKapade. It houses the fully renovated Maison du Kochersberg, a tourist office, an artist's studio, an Italian restaurant, a conference room and a 180° projection room.
For lovers of the great outdoors, the village is criss-crossed by various trails marked out by the Club Vosgien, and features an eco-educational park with a fitness trail.
