General situation

Villey-Saint-Etienne is a commune in eastern France, in the Meurthe et Moselle département.

Twenty kilometers from Nancy and ten from Toul, Villey-Saint-Etienne overlooks the Moselle valley near its confluence with the Terrouin.

The woods

The Villey-Saint-Etienne area covers 1,730 hectares, including 500 hectares of forest, divided into 3 massifs:

bois de la Ville, also known as Bois de Toul or Bois du Vieux Canton, is the largest (407 hectares). It lies to the west of the village and adjoins the town of Toul.
the 95-hectare Bois de Hazelle overlooks the Moselle valley to the east of the village and borders the Natrou forest.
belleville wood, covering some 95 hectares.
