La Moncelle is a small village of 132 souls and is located on the outskirts of Sedan. This village is perched on a hill overlooking the bed of the Givonne river. To be seen in passing: The castle, end of the XIth century. It was used as a secondary residence or hunting lodge by the Princes of La Marck, founders of the Principality of Sedan.the church, built in 1838.the Maison Doyen-Lobet, a typical house of the village, it belonged to many owners and had multiple functions.the Pont du Désespoir.The Pump located on the village square, it dates from the 17th century.a character who has marked the town: Firmin Drouart, an astonishing character and figure in the industrial history of La Moncelle, son of Théophile Drouart, inventor (among others) of the match making machine.
