Built on the site of the former San Sebastian Chapel, the current parish church of San Sebastian is the result of two separate building campaigns. The neo-classical porch tower was built from a project by Desbordes, the main engineer of the Ponts et Chaussées de la Basse-Alsace, between 1776 and 1785, while the nave and choir, in neo-Gothic style, were completely rebuilt from 1846 onwards. The three stained-glass windows created by the Strasbourg glass painters Baptiste Petit-Gérard, Ritter and
Muller which adorn the choir are part of an ensemble of eleven, sponsored in 1848 by Mayor Joseph André, Father Florian Reiber and industrialist J.-B. Muller. They represent, in the central stained glass window, the two patron saints of the church, Sébastien and Georges and The Trinity surrounded by the fathers of the Church: Augustine, Jérôme, Ambroise and Grégoire. For this realization the workshop was inspired by the Alsatian stained glass of the xiii th century and in particular by the series of the emperors of the north side of the cathedral of Strasbourg.
