The convent of Saint-Marc, located 2 km from the village, is said to have been founded in 676 by Dagobert II. This Benedictine abbey belonged to the bishopric of Strasbourg. Ruined by the invaders, the convent was rebuilt in the 11th century. Devastated several times during the Middle Ages, it is restored in 1762 by the abbey of Ebersmunster. In 1868, a congregation of the charitable Sisters of Saint Joseph settled there and is still present in the convent.
