The Chatte Pendue culminates at 899 m. An orientation table belonging to the Vosges Club of Strasbourg offers a superb view of the Champ du Feu massif, the Climont, the Donon and, in clear weather, the Black Forest... But the originality of the place lies above all in its unusual name, which has been the subject of many interpretations. Formerly called "Pirre hhatte pendaïe", high hanging stone. The guttural pronunciation of the "H" or transcription errors by surveyors would have transformed the hhatte into a pussy.
