Medieval fortress. The castle of Montcornet has kept its original aspect of a medieval sentinel. The rocky spur of Mont Cornu, dominating the small valley of the Sormonne, has been occupied by a fortress since the 12th century, abandoned in the 17th century. The ruins of the "Colisée Féodal de Montcornet", dear to Michelet, have been cleared and its underground passages now house an exhibition room. New: a booklet "discovery trail" sold for 1€ to discover the castle and life in the Middle Ages in a fun way. The discovery trail exists in French and Dutch versions for children aged 6 to 12 and for 11-14 year olds (following the programme for the 5th year classes).
