The Calvary is located on the heights of Château-Chinon and offers an extraordinary panorama of the Morvan.
It is situated on the top of the town, on the site of the old castle destroyed during the battles between the Duke of Burgundy, Charles the Bold and the troops of Louis XI. The stones of the old castle were used to build the Porte Notre Dame in the town centre. Three mission crosses are now erected there. The original orientation table in Volvic stone was donated by the Touring Club de France in 1914. The current tables, including the 360° one, were inaugurated in 2014.
