As an independent municipality, then an annex of Bouzonville since 1810, the village belonged to the legal domain of Bérus, while its land was the property of the abbey of Bouzonville.
In 1281, Duke Ferry of Lorraine confirmed his right of possession of the village and the land, while the municipality of Rettel also had a right to the land. Until 1802, Aidling was, like Bouzonville, part of the municipality of Vaudreching.
The chapel certainly dates from the 17th or 18th century and is dedicated to the Holy Cross, in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, patron saint of the village, honored every first Sunday in October.
