Moulin d'Ane

Ane: nickname spelled in old French "anne" meaning cane (resulting from the constant presence of ducks?).
Quoted as early as 1260, this grist mill (4 wheels) is in the sixteenth century. the property of the seigneurial house of Aubigné; in the seventeenth century, of Mme de Mougon, owner of the house of Surimeau.
In 1864, the prefect authorized the owners of the mills at Ste-Pezenne to undertake drainage work on the river. It is still the golden age of the Sèvre mills that transform the wheat grains harvested on the plateaus into a white flour exported to the West Indies! After the war of 14, the appearance of electric flour mills led to their disappearance.
The bief of the mill of Ane is arranged after the war of 39-45 in communal pool (swimmers in costume one room, cabins in wood and diving). A municipal decree forbade all public bathing in 1969.
