Description

"Shake-hand" in English or "l'entente cordiale" in French commemorates the centenary of the Franco-British entente cordiale.

The image consists of 2 semi-circles in which the contours of Great Britain and France can be seen respectively. 2 hands intertwine.

On 14 August 2004, the inauguration took place on the Place Jean-Muselet of the new statue of Britannia, the work of the Boulonnais sculptor Bruno Maillard , replacing the monument destroyed in 1940, on the anniversary of the landing of the 1st British troops in Boulogne on 14 August 1914, and in recognition of England's help during the two world wars.

This white painted steel sculpture is 6.80 meters high and stands on a marble base.
