The Palais des Congres was originally built in 1899 as the Casino municipal (also Casino des Fleurs) by order of the city of Grasse to attract wealthy tourists from Nice and Cannes.
From 1908 it became a hotel, in 1927 it was converted into a cinema with 600 seats. From 1950 it became a conference room and in 1988 the transformation came into a modern congress centre , while the facade and historical charm were preserved.
The building has richly decorated facades with large arched windows, wrought iron balcony balustrades and a central turret.
The interior has marble floors, crystal chandeliers and frescoes and mirrors in the halls (much of which was changed later).
During the annual ExpoRose , the square and the Palais are richly decorated with roses, art and installations , including umbrellas and flower arches.
The grand staircase from the square to the entrance is a popular photo spot . From the roof terrace you have a view of the old town, the Parfumerie Fragonard and the Mediterranean in the distance in clear weather.
