The historic building housed the real gendarmerie from 1879 to 2003 , before being transformed into this museum in 2016.
There is a space for temporary exhibitions , for example about Brigitte Bardot, Johnny Hallyday or the series “Sous le soleil”.
On the first floor, there's a reconstruction of a 1960s gendarmerie station : cashiers, uniforms, mailboxes, a typewriter, and more. It feels so real. A tribute to the cult comedy "Le Gendarme de Saint-Tropez" features costumes, props, and a life-size bronze sculpture of Louis de Funès.
An introduction to cinema in Saint-Tropez : from the first shoots to unique film features and creators.
The second floor is themed around Saint-Tropez as a holiday destination . Relive the atmosphere of the Route Nationale 7, including iconic cars like the Simca Aronde and 2CV. Large-scale recreations include the dressing rooms of Brigitte Bardot and Romy Schneider, and a festive film set from the 1950s to the present day.
