Located in Place Blanqui , the statue is inspired by a watercolour by the famous Italian cartoonist and artist Milo Manara , known for his sensual and refined style, and depicts the actress as she appeared in the film Et Dieu... créa la femme (1956).
The image shows Bardot in a playful and elegant pose, emphasizing her iconic status as a style and sex symbol.
The statue was unveiled on 28 September 2017 , her 83rd birthday, as a tribute to Brigitte Bardot, who helped shape Saint-Tropez's worldwide fame in the 1950s and 1960s.
The statue is 2.5 meters tall and weighs 700 kg. Bardot's influence on the city is enormous: she made Saint-Tropez a hotspot for celebrities, artists, and tourists.
In June 2021, the bronze statue was given a new look by applying thousands of 23.75-karat gold foils by artist Émilien Schaefer. Since then, the statue has shone in a metallic gold sheen.
