GR 20 on Corsica Day 01

This day trip begins in "Calenzana" and leads to "Orto di u Piobbu".

The start is immediately a tough day. But the views are incredibly beautiful.
From the Colletola (421 m) you have a view over Calenzana.
When you arrive at Bocca u Corsu (580 m), you already have a wonderful view of the bay of Calvi.
Over a small pass at an altitude of 1250 m.
Then the work begins through the "Bois de la Fratte", which leads up to Capu-Ghiovu (1486 m).
The path gently rises, over the "Crête du Fucu", then a gentle descent to the "Refuge Ortu di u Piobbu" at an altitude of 1520 meters.

You will spend the night at this hut.

From Calenzana to Refuge d'Ortu di u Piobbu
= +1295 m ascent and -50 m descent.
Calenzana = 275 m and Refuge d'Ortu di u Piobbu = 1520 m.

Walking time from Calenzana to Refuge d'Ortu di u Piobbu
= 7 hours without breaks.

Difficulty:

The start and approach are easy. After crossing the Bois de Fratte, it becomes quite steep climbing over rocks, and here and there ropes are attached.
After Bocca à u Bazzichellu, it gradually descends over a path to Refuge d'Ortu di u Piobbu.
