The tour and ascent of PUY DE DÔME

A hike around the largest of the domes of the Puys mountain range.

The ascent of the Puy de Dôme brings a sense of fullness as it overlooks the entire chain of the Puys and its 80
volcanoes. At the summit, the 2nd-century temple of Mercury is one of the largest mountain sanctuaries
of Roman Western civilization.

A view and openings on all these slopes, in an atmosphere of forests, of grazing land on the traversin part, the central point of the chain, between the Puy de Dôme
and the Puy du Pariou.

WELCOME TIPS
For your safety, always take with you a bottle of water, a hat, warm clothing and rain gear, and equip yourself with suitable walking shoes.
Depending on weather conditions, certain routes are not recommended in bad weather (fog) or may be impassable, even prohibited, during the winter season.
Some sites are fragile, stay on the designated paths. Avoid picking wild flowers and disturbing
the wildlife. Take your waste with you.
On certain routes, animals are prohibited.
LOCATION TIPS
From Clermont-Ferrand, follow the direction of Tulle via D941 to Orcines, then D942 towards the Puy de Dôme and the Ceyssat Pass (parking). The starting sign is located 50 m above the parking areas behind the two restaurants.
