Description by the author

A very hilly, wooded route that takes you through the rich, wild countryside between France and Belgium.

Start in Moustier-en-fagne from our holiday home "gîte le pré en bulles" (highly recommended!) to ride the Transylvestre circuit from Eppe-Sauvage, which starts from Valjoly and is indicated by the yellow mountain bike sign and '6'.

We drive to Eppe-Sauvage along rural roads. A steep climb on asphalt takes us up to the Sint-Ursmerskapel from where we sit on the signposted route (Mountainke yellow 6). Just past the chapel we pay attention to the 1st narrow overgrown path to the right, between two meadows (a few meters after the Chemin du Strohaut which is on the left). This narrow and overgrown path winds through the forest, crosses a stream, runs past Trou Colette (a small lake) and climbs up on the left to a road.

We follow the arrows and a path that enters the forest winds, descends and goes to the left along the border stream, right over the pedestrian bridge and back right steeply up into the forest on the Belgian side.

A little further we arrive in the Bois de la Bruyère where we follow the Sentier Pédagogique and the Véloroute des Lacs. We enter the Bois de Vieux-Sart via a barrier and along bridle paths and footbridges we return to the Véloroute des Lacs. We continue the way through a hunting area with perches for hunters and a footbridge over the Ruisseau de l'Ermitage .

We continue following the arrows, passing the Touvent picnic area to the entrance of the campsite.

A little further we arrive at the Val-Joly resort at the riding school. The path is difficult to find in the small forest, following the left path that winds between the road and the tree climbing area . Pass the kiosk and go straight ahead. The path joins the road via a quiet lane that passes the laser tag area and descends to the small lake of Fond d'Amour up to the Maison des cycles.

We leave the domain along the lake, under the mini golf course , in the direction of the pedal boats , past the water sports complex (swimming pool), the dam and the ornithological observatory.

We follow the arrows, pass a chapel, a pond and then take the path up on the right.

When we arrive at St. Ursmers' Chapel, we leave the signposted circuit and return to Moustier-en-fagne along the same road .
