N°36 : Essences des haies du Perche Sarthois

Volnay is located near the confluence of the Arche and Hune streams, not far from the Via Turniacensis, the ancient road linking Le Mans to Orléans. However, the village seems to have developed from the Middle Ages onwards, in connection with the foundation of a priory dependent on the Couture abbey in the 11th century. The parish church dedicated to Saint-Vincent is the only evidence of this.

On this circuit, observe the species of hedges in the Perche Sarthois region, such as sessile and pedunculate oaks. Along the way, you'll come across a church, chapel, mansion and manor house.
