Up hill and down dale, this round walk takes you to see some fine houses once belonging to wealthy farmers, and some watermills. After admiring Castelnau-Montratier's windmills, you'll walk through unspoiled, verdant countryside. A mediaeval "new town", the bastide of Castelnau-Montratier, the starting point of the walk, is laid out around a large central square bordered by arcades, with straight, parallel streets leading from it. The Romano-Byzantine church, built in 1907 and consecrated in 1921, stands at a distance from the central square. Three fine windmills standing proudly at the entrance to the bastide bear witness to its rich and prosperous past.
