Jurassic Escape

The great Franco-Swiss hiking route of the Échappée Jurassienne allows crossing, on foot, the Jura massif from West to East, disregarding borders. This hiking journey takes in the largest sites of the Franco-Swiss Jura. Its 352 km of marked GR® hiking trails (59, 559, and 509 and 5) are a true condensed version of what the cross-border Jura massif has to offer in terms of its most iconic and exceptional features!

A major hiking itinerary and two "arrival cities"
The Échappée Jurassienne connects the city of Art and History, Dole, in the Jura plain to the Station des Rousses in the heights of the cross-border Jura massif. At the Station des Rousses, hikers can choose to take the Original route to cross the Haut-Jura and reach Saint-Claude while remaining exclusively in France, or to follow the Swiss route to join Nyon on the shores of Lake Geneva by passing the summit of Dôle, thus hiking in Switzerland for 45 km.
