The Pass of Balme

A beautiful loop that will take you through part of the balcony of
the Vercors. You may encounter ibex and
enjoy exceptional panoramas. After a climb, you will be
rewarded with the beauty of the landscapes!

Originally, the word Pas means a Passage. Here, the Pas de la Balme is one of the many
passages that connect the valley to the plateau of Vercors. Departure: From the “Parking
de Mauret” at the Col de l’Arzelier in the municipality of Château Bernard. A large parking area
is available to leave the car. You will find the sign “Mauret”. You will follow the direction of the “refuge
de la Soldanelle”. A beautiful climb leads to the refuge. You will pass through a
series of small bends in the forest. Once you arrive at the refuge, you will find the sign
“Refuge de la Soldanelle” (1500m).
