Gravel ride at the Bay of Somme - between sea, cliffs, and heritage

From Le Hourdel to Cayeux-sur-Mer – seals and salty expanses

The route starts at the mouth of the Somme, where the tides constantly reshape the landscapes. In Le Hourdel, you have a great chance to spot grey seals and common seals. The view over the bay is impressive: wide mudflats, salt meadows, and a play of light that is constantly changing.

From here, you follow the coastal strip towards Cayeux-sur-Mer, known for its photogenic beach huts and characteristic white pebble banks. The gravel path that winds along the coast is delightfully rugged. Due to the presence of flint stones, a sturdy gravel tire is highly recommended.

Gravel along the cliff coast – towards Eu
