Hiking - the sources of the rey

Access: From Remiremont, take the road to Val-d'Ajol and after 2 km, turn left towards Girmont-Val-d'Ajol. Parking: Park in the lot facing the Chalot.

Distance: 13 km / Duration: 3 h 45 / Elevation: 300 m / Marking: yellow disk.

1) Starting from the center of the village of Girmont-Val-d'Ajol. Take the road to the St Vallier inn (sawmill). Pass the inn and the next house. Descend to the right by a dirt path towards the valley. Head towards the old farm of Haies Vallées.
2) A path near the farm goes into a small wood on the right and descends the slope to quickly reach a road. Go down to the next hamlet of Sauceley, which is on the left side (sauceley: a place covered with willows). Follow the rising path to the left between the houses. It leads to the Heutotte (small hut) which it skirts on the left.
3) Use a path on the right that goes into the forest and weaves through the peat bogs. Be sure to follow the markings and maintain the same direction. The path roughly follows the contour line. It continues as a paved road. Go down 300m towards the hamlet of Haut du Repoix.
4) Follow the small road on the left and continue with a rising dirt path to the right behind the farm. Head towards the television relay. Follow the corniche road for a moment, which offers a splendid view of Faymont and then Val-d’Ajol by describing a large arc.
5) Cross the hamlet of Rapaumont and come out at the foot of the TV relay. Continue along the dirt path and then the paved road, and the return begins by following a large almost straight forest road for 2 km.
6) A path on the left leads to the hamlet of Beuny. Exit the hamlet by the rising path on the right, crossing a small paved road.
7) Encounter the marked circuit n°20. Enter the small wood on the left and go down the road to the village.
