Family walk - Circuit de la Rochaule

Circuit de la Rochaule (Municipality of Ferdrupt). Duration: 2 hours. Difficulty: medium (family walk with children). Distance: 6 kilometers. Positive elevation: 170 meters. Marking: blue ring, a short section on an unmarked paved road. Tourist points of interest: the mountain valleys of Grandrupt and the Hill of Ferdrupt, presence of a high furnace halfway. Departure: Parking lot of the town hall of Ferdrupt. Access: From Le Thillot, follow the N66 towards Epinal. The road crosses Ramonchamp before entering Ferdrupt. The town hall is on the right about 300 meters after the church. Description of the route: From the parking lot of the town hall, follow the sign "Domaine du Châtelet", take the road that goes uphill along the fire station for 200 meters. At the first intersection, continue uphill following the direction "Domaine du Châtelet", "route du Châtelet". Continue uphill on this road for 300 meters, do not take the "rue des Clos" to the right. At the hairpin, continue your walk by turning left onto "Chemin des Febvés" marked with a blue ring. After 20 meters, pass near a log cabin on the left. Continue on this road for about 1 km. Pass near a small closed cabin with a bench outside that you will find on the left. At the end of the paved road, continue straight on the forest path (sign "cul-de-sac") following the blue ring marking. Passing by a large farm. Cross the pastures and follow this path for about 1 km. Passing near a private pond. Passing close to a shed with a green roof next to a house, you can see in the distance a high furnace that looks like a mill. Passing by the "Vlaemynck" farm (selling goat cheese and meat). Take the path to the right above the farm following the blue ring marking. Go over the fence and climb the path for 40 meters (do not go up to the shed). Take the path to the right following the blue ring marking for 300 meters. Cross the fence and continue on this path following the blue ring marking. It overlooks the path from where you came, below to the right. The path crosses a underwood for 800 meters and offers many views of the valley. At the crossroads, leave the blue ring marking and then descend to the right for 20 meters to reach the paved road. At the next crossroads, take the road to the right "Chemin des Galmanprés" for 800 meters. At the 2nd turn, take the road to the left towards "Domaine du Châtelet". Pass among the huts and caravans and then cross the blue bridge. Descend the path to the right along the stream, marked with a blue ring and yellow disk. The path joins a paved road that you must follow to the right to reach the town hall and the starting point of the walk.
