Hiking - La Roche Tocquaine

Access: From the center of Remiremont, pass in front of the hospital. At the traffic lights, turn right towards "Champ de Mars" and "Palais des Congrès"
Parking: Park in the Champ de Mars parking lot.

Start from the Champ de Mars parking lot heading towards the calvary, passing by a large marking panel from the Vosgien Club. Begin the walk by following the blue disc marking. At the calvary, you can make a round trip for a nice view of the city, especially the Saint-Pierre abbey church.
After the calvary, continue straight to reach the "promenade Charles David" that runs alongside the hospital. At the end of the path, just before reaching the road, the marking on a tree indicates a path to the right that ascends into the forest.
At an intersection, the path becomes a road to the left at an orienteering post, then reverts to a path on the right. Follow the marking, always uphill.
At an intersection with a drivable path, cross the road to reach straight ahead a path that goes left towards "Chalet des Gardes." Higher up, pass in front of the "fox rock" (687 m elevation). Just after the rock, continue straight on the path.
At Roche Tocquaine (660 m elevation), reach the top of the rock by the path that goes straight ahead and then veers right uphill. To continue the walk, take the path behind the bench.
Pass by the "drop of Founot" and at the end of the path, back on a road, turn right uphill.
Once you reach the parking lot of Chalet des Gardes (picnic tables on site), take the "ridge path." Change of marking: follow the red cross. Pass the barrier, then a few meters further, leave the path for a trail on the right, the "poudingues trail," easy and flat for about 2 km.
At the end of the trail, at the intersection with the path, turn left downhill. Then just before the road, take the marked path to the right. Continue until you reach a large intersection at the botanical path of Remiremont (caution: lack of marking). At this intersection, continue straight on the path and then cross the road to reach another path across that runs along the road to the right.
Further on at the fork, at an orienteering marker number 40, take the path that descends to the left.
On this path, after passing a property on the left, at a crossroads, continue to descend straight ahead. The path becomes a trail and leads to the road that returns to the Calvary and the Champ de Mars to the right.
