Hiking - the virgin of the fields

Access: From Remiremont, take the exit for Plombières-les-Bains.
Parking: Parking of the Promenade, on the left coming from Remiremont.

Distance: 5.8 km / Duration: 2 h 30 / Elevation gain: 155m / Marking: green ring.

1) Start at the town hall. Go up Fulton Street or the more shaded Promenade des Dames (Fulton demonstrated a model of his steam boat here). At the Ferrugineuse Fountain, or the restaurant of the same name located on the promenade, take the very steep alley on the left that leads to the Calvaire.
2) A narrow path in the undergrowth on the right quickly leads to a calvaire overlooking the valley. A possible view of the site of the former household equipment factory, whose chimney has been piously preserved. The path continues as a balcony above the valley of the Augronne. On the right, when a gap appears in the foliage, the old workers' housing of the factory can be seen.
3) On an asphalted road, turn left for a steep but brief ascent that leads to the Granges plateau with its old farms, continue on the right path.
4) Take the left road and follow it to the old communal school of Arpents.
5) At the water reservoir, turn left. At the next intersection, head straight ahead on the small paved road.
6) Take the right road.
7) At the Virgin of the Fields (chapel), begin the descent towards the town through fields and forest. Follow the paved road on the left and turn at the second road to the right. From there, the thermal station is quickly visible at the end of a narrow alley. Enter the small square surrounding the chapel of the Virgin of Coteau. Take the stairs to access the alley of the pigs. Descend Duke Leopold Avenue and head towards the town hall via Cavour Street.
