Commercial hub located on the roads Metz-Strasbourg and Sarreguemines-Nancy, the town of Puttelange aux Lacs, once the stronghold of the Counts of Salm, has undoubtedly been so for centuries. Thanks to its industry and commerce, the name Puttelange was exported worldwide.
Since its creation around the 6th century to the present day, the town has continuously adapted to circumstances and historical events. Sometimes French, sometimes German, the town and its inhabitants had to comply several times with the new rules and laws in force. A town scarred during the battles of World War II, only a few buildings escaped destruction.
