The ancient winemaker village at the foot of the Moselle hills, Norroy-le-Veneur, prides itself on exceptional nature and built heritage: numerous fountains, a fortified church, and an old mill. Don't miss the astonishing oak fountain located deep in the forest.
Although the village of Norroy derives its name from walnuts (from "Nogaredum": the Land of Walnuts), it was also known for its vineyards until the 19th century. To counter the ravages of Phylloxera, it developed fruit growing, strawberries and fruit trees, as evidenced by the orchards that still occupy the slopes. Occupied with certainty since the Merovingian era, the village also boasts extraordinary built heritage: numerous fountains, its fortified church, and the old mill, the last extension and the bucket wheel of which date back to 1845.
