Landscapes of the Blies

This route is mainly dedicated to observing nature. The arboretum in Blies-Schweyen, at the starting and finishing point of the hike, is a beautiful introduction to the environmental richness of the Blies valley. Spanning over 4 hectares, you will discover more than 100 plant species typical of the region, which will allow you to learn about the local ecosystem.

Walking through a vast meander of the Blies, you will be surprised by the numerous viewpoints it offers on landscapes rhythmically marked by forests, orchards, and fields. In the woods of the plateau, you will be mostly surrounded by beeches and oaks, but also by some rarer species such as maple, hornbeam, or cherry.

In the valley, near the arboretum, you will mainly find alders, ashes, and oaks. Have fun recognizing them. Leaves and barks will help you identify them.
