Coulée verte Crévecoeur-le-Grand à Croissy-sur-Celle

The Coulée verte follows the old railway line that linked Montsoult (Paris) to Amiens, crossing the Oise département. Its 12 km length welcomes mountain bikers, hikers, horse riders and carriages. A botanical trail (with almost 30 species of trees and shrubs) and several hiking loops are signposted, enabling nature and heritage enthusiasts to discover the surrounding villages and the varied landscapes of the Vallée de la Celle.
A little history: Declared a public utility by a law of June 15, 1872, the line was built from 1875 onwards by the Compagnie Anonyme des Chemins de fer du nord. The line played an essential role during the 1914-1918 war. Because of their proximity to the Somme département, the Croissy-sur-Celle and Fontaine Bonneleau stations provided supplies for the front. Goods transport, vital to the many industries located in and around the towns crossed by the railroad, continued until 1953. Passenger transport ceased in 1938.
