Situated in the heart of the mid-Oise valley, protected by the European Union for the quality of its flora, the Noyonnais region offers a varied landscape of meadows, forests, rivers and ponds.
Emblematic of the village of Muirancourt, a three-hundred-year-old oak tree was used as an observatory during the First World War. It was the highlight of this 7.5 km hike.
The old oak was used as an observatory, as evidenced by the metal bars planted in the trunk. Despite its poor condition, it has stood the test of time and the elements. In 2005, a young oak tree was planted nearby to replace it should it wither. The old oak fell during the winter storm of 2009.
Located at the end of the route, the oak also marks a remarkable viewpoint on the hiking trail.
