In terms of habitats, flora and fauna, Mont César is one of Picardy's major heritage sites.
In Picardy, less than 5% of the area of larris (Picardy word for limestone hillsides) that existed at the beginning of the 20th century remains. The larris of Mont César is one of the last large groups of these singular environments, and probably the richest in the Oise département.
Caution: keep to the path as it is a protected natural area.
The site is also of great historical and archaeological interest, having been a Gallic refuge and then a Gallo-Roman oppidum. As a result, it was listed as a historic monument in 1979.
The site is managed by the Conservatoire d'espaces naturels des Hauts-de-France.
