Two jewels of Romanesque art in Saint-Hymetière and Gigny, the towns of Arinthod, Orgelet and Clairvaux-les-Lacs, the discovery circuit of the Présilly castle.

In the morning: Start from Arinthod, take the time to visit this ancient medieval city via the heritage path from the town hall (30 min). Continue with a visit to one of the most beautiful Romanesque churches in Franche-Comté: Saint-Hymetière, characterized by its Lombard arcades and fully rehabilitated in 2011 (20 min). Near the church, you will find the path of the Caborne du Boeuf (1h round trip). Continue your dive into Romanesque architecture in Gigny. A heritage trail will take you to discover the town, the church, and the abbey (founded by Bernon: author of the famous abbey of Cluny) (45 min).
In the afternoon: Next destination: Orgelet, classified as a Character City in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. The charm of its squares and alleys will certainly enchant you. By following the heritage circuit of the town (starting from the parking lot at Place aux Vins), you will discover the ruins of the castle, the old grain hall, the church, and many other old buildings (1h). Next, we suggest you discover Clairvaux-Les-Lacs. The St Nithier Church, built in Romanesque style, dates back to the 12th century and has undergone alterations due to two fires! Its richness comes from its uniquely blended architecture and the gift from Versailles: five magnificent paintings by great masters of the 18th century (15 min). Walk down Grande Rue to the tourist office and continue to the tower of the old castle (12th century) and the Notre Dame de Lisle Chapel (18th century). It’s the perfect place to take a break! (30 min). To end the day, head to the ruins of the Présilly castle (13th century) where on clear days you can see the Jura Mountains and Mont Blanc.
