The youngest of the "great lakes of Morvan" and the only one part of the Loire basin, Lake Chamboux, created in 1985 on the Ternin river, a tributary of the Arroux, for supplying the Saulieu region with drinking water, is the smallest of the reservoirs in Morvan. Its rockfill dam, made of rubble stones and earth, forms three bodies of water with a total area of 75 hectares.
