Departure: Viaduct of Mussy-sous-Dun. Pass under the viaduct. After 50 meters, turn left and climb to point No. 2 "Le Fournay," a magnificent viewpoint over the Mussy valley. At "la Combe," point No. 3, turn left and climb through woods and fields to point No. 5 "Dunet."
From there, you can, off the circuit, continue your walk to the summit of the Dun mountain. You will find a chapel open for visits during the summer; it is in Romanesque style and was built in 1898 by the Count of Rambuteau. Inside, there are numerous works of art: a 15th-century statue of a Virgin, a nativity altarpiece from the 16th century, a stone Pieta, a 16th-century ostensorium, a 15th-century Spanish monstrance containing relics of the infant Jesus of Prague and Saint Bruno. A magnificent panorama spreads out at your feet over Charolais, Beaujolais, and Roannais.
Otherwise, continue through the woods, pass point No. 6 "Le Corchat," descend and traverse the village of Anglure Sous Dun, point No. 8, go down again into the valley, admire the restored mill, turn right, climb, and you will be alongside a wood on your left. On the right, at the end of a meadow, a small pond. Enjoy the sound of frogs in season. At the end of the path, turn left and climb to the place called "les Taillis" No. 9, turn right, pass in front of the waste disposal site, then under the railway line connecting Lyon to Paray-le-Monial, continue to the Cross of Mussey, one of the most original in the commune, mounted on a three-step pedestal. Its joinings: pedestal, shaft of the cross, are all decorated with refined sculptures. Turn left towards Chauffailles. At the sign "Route de Mussy," point No. 10, you have two options; either change circuits by turning left (circuit No. 2) or go straight to continue your walk. At the next direction post, point No. 11, turn right or continue straight for a visit to Chauffailles.
Go to point No. 12 "En Forenne," which connects us to circuit No. 4, turn right, cross a small wood to the place called "les Murs," point No. 13, take D316, veer left, cross the river "le Mussy" continue to "Carrefour de la fabrique" point No. 14, turn left, leave D316 then right, begin the climb to reach "La Madone" point No. 15, take a break at the foot of it and admire the landscape that opens before your eyes over the Mussy valley and the mountains in the distance.
Then descend to point No. 16 "the village of Mussy-sous-Dun." You can visit the church which has retained the original late Romanesque choir, 12th century with lightened arches in full centering, with sculpted capitals. The name of the architect of the nave built around 1840 has not been found. The bell tower is oddly located extending the axis of the choir. Descend the street that rejoins the foot of the viaduct by passing under the arches, end of your walk, enjoy the recreational area to admire this superb work of art.
