In the morning: Start the day at 9:30 am with a self-guided visit of the collegiate church of Dole (45 min) and its imposing bell tower that rises to 73m, the tallest in Franche-Comté. Then, head towards the sanctuary of Notre-Dame de Mont-Roland (1h), a major pilgrimage site dating back to the 11th century, located on the hill known as “Mont-Roland.” Lunch at a restaurant in Dole.
In the afternoon: After the meal, departure for the exploration of the Massif de la Serre, this granite massif with numerous features that has experienced prehistoric and even proto-historical occupation, an opportunity to admire the famous Hermitage Cave as well as the mysterious Pattée Crosses (1h30). Then, meet at the Church of Offlanges (45 min) classified as a Historical Monument. Dated to the early 18th century, the decoration of the altarpieces continues into the architecture with stucco decor, the dome completes this arrangement centered around the large altarpieces. The end of the day will culminate with a visit to the legendary Abbey of Acey (45 min), founded in 1136, this Cistercian abbey located in the valley of the Ognon, in the municipality of Vitreux, is currently inhabited by Cistercian-Trappist monks. It is the only Cistercian monastery still occupied by a monastic community in Franche-Comté.
