Large loop of Rully

This 30 km loop (718 meters of elevation gain) will take you to discover two wine-growing villages of the Côte Chalonnaise (Rully and Bouzeron), and a village where quarries were exploited until the 20th century and where many washhouses (Fontaines) were built. We recommend finding accommodation on the side of Rully. In the center of the village, near the Restaurant le Vendangerot, there is a convenience store where you can buy your supplies. However, you will also cross other municipalities where you can find what you need for your picnic.
Plan for a 7-hour hike to complete this loop, not including lunch breaks or tastings during visits.

After crossing the village of Rully and wandering through your first vineyards, you will follow a path that runs at the foot of the health course in Fontaines. If you feel up for adding a few kilometers to your hike, don't hesitate; it’s a very pleasant walk through the forest.

On your way back to Rully, you can make a slight detour to admire the Castle, a medieval fortress perched atop an ocean of vines. You will also pass in front of the Agneux caves.

This route is the one where you will be the most in the forest, which will allow you to enjoy a certain coolness during the hottest part of the day. But you will encounter the landscapes of vineyards as you arrive in Bouzeron, where you can make a stop at a winemaker in this village, the only village in the Côte Chalonnaise that exclusively produces wine with the Aligoté grape variety.
