The Gorges of La Canche

Departure from the parking lot of the community hall in Roussillon-en-Morvan. Take the path that descends and arrives at the hamlet of Viollots in the valley of the Canche. Pass the bridge, cross the main road to the left. A few meters further on, climb the road of Grand Mizieux until the first sharp bend. At this point, leave the road for the forest path that climbs quite steeply. At the level of the forest house of Grandes Ventes, turn right, follow this path down to the forest road at the bottom. Take it and finally turn left, reach the beginning of the gorges of the Canche by passing in front of the hydroelectric power station.

Go back up the gorges following the red and white markings (GR of the Morvan tour). At the exit, turn onto the forest road of Grandes Ventes; after about a hundred meters, turn right and follow this path for about 2.5 km in the Glenne state forest. It opens onto a paved section that leads to the hamlet of Grand Mizieux.

In the middle of this hamlet, at the fork, go down to the right and continue on the dirt path until the cemetery of Celle-en-Morvan. Follow it along the top and follow the forest path parallel to the river; just after the Mériaux farm, turn left to reach RD 978, cross it to follow RD 2 towards Anost. Just after, turn left and at the first crossroads, once again to the left. Pass in front of the town hall and the rose garden and at the bifurcation (Christ on the cross) return to the right. At the crossroads of the hamlet of Croix, turn left; at Fluteau, go up to the right and continue this drivable path for several kilometers. On the plateau, after the road of Barbeaux, take a path that starts on the left and follow it until the small road. Turn left, 300m later take the right at a heap of stones. At the end of this path, turn left. The circuit returns to the road to Roussillon via Aigreveau. At the pond, leave the road to Chézet on the right. Upon arrival in the village, turn left and cross the town to return to the community hall located at the other end.
