The industries of Givonnais on horseback

It is an old factory, as evidenced by the presence of ponds upstream of the building transformed shortly after 1870 into a manor house. Take the path leading to Givonne, then the old road to Illy. At the top, the viewpoint of the state forest allows for an impressive view of the Givonne valley upstream. Turn right towards the football field in Illy, passing by a recent factory. Then descend towards the Givonne valley, along the Talot woods. You arrive at the "Bouillonnais," which is the embankment of an old railway line built between 1903 and 1910 to connect the valleys of the Meuse, Givonne, and Semoy until 1933. Ascend the Bouillonnais along the Hâtrelle stream to the place known as "La Bacoulette," an old factory renovated into a dwelling in the 1980s. Leave the Bouillonnais trail and pass by the old Hâtrelle mill transformed into a country house. At the crossroads, a strong house that was part of the Maginot line is abandoned. Then, return to the Bouillonnais between the two viaducts. About 4 km later, reach the Douaire forest road that descends to the "stream of the ten brothers" with a recent water retention and a trout ladder. Follow the left bank of this stream until its confluence with the Givonne at the place known as "les Glaynées," where the first factory is located alongside the river. Continuing on the right bank, one can observe other remains of factories (water retention, some ruins) up to the Olly castle. Then ascend into the forest to follow the Givonne on the left bank. You can then see successively: the Warcan, the Chataimont, the Jacquemotte and the Lamoir. Many old factories have been renovated with their water retention and characteristic architectures.
