BR53 The two valleys - Thur and Doller

The Route
Bordered to the south by the Sundgau, the Doller valley and Masevaux form the starting point of the circuit. When you set out to explore it, you access a natural domain where even beavers have their own territory! The Geological Museum in Sentheim will give you a taste of the pleasant surprises: high-altitude lakes, protected flora and fauna, you will be amazed by the varied landscapes of this valley! With this itinerary, you embark on the roads of the Tour de France with three well-known mountain passes on the program: the Hundsdrück pass, the Ballon d'Alsace, and the Bussang pass. The finish of the Hundsdrück sets the tone for this ode to the mountain. The Ballon d'Alsace is even longer, and you will climb it via its most reputedly difficult side. At the exit of Bussang, and before your return to Alsace, don't forget to refresh yourself at the Marie spring, which will offer you ferruginous water to help you recover! You will also traverse part of the valleys of Saint-Amarin and the Thur, famous for their textile industries. A visit to the Wesserling Park, a true textile city of the 19th century with a park, garden, and castle over more than 42 hectares, remains a must-see.
