This circuit takes you horseback between Alsace and Lorraine while remaining in the heart of the Vosges massif. Starting from Schirmeck, you quietly climb the Bruche valley through the former lands of the principality of Salm, then you cross into Lorraine via the Hantz pass to reach Moussey. The route then heads towards the old "Path of the Smugglers," which connected occupied Alsace (from the place called Salm) to Moussey during the Second World War. You return to the Alsace side and cross the Donon pass before descending through the Framont valley back to Schirmeck.
