The Perheux is a magnificent natural space of alpine meadow, where history meets legend. During the Middle Ages, a time marked by witch trials, the accused, sentenced to death, was often burned at the place of justice of the Perheux pass. It is also here that Oberlin had the Altar of the Fatherland erected, around which the mountain dwellers from the surrounding areas gathered to celebrate, on July 14, 1790, the great Festival of Federation.
